Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The locality called "Hadí kopec - the Serpent Hill" shows a massive body of basalt with interesting example of columnar jointing. This basalt body is crossed and thus divided into two parts by erosional activity of the Lomnice River. Petrologically this basalt is also called "plagioclase limburgite". This extrusive rock is of Tertiary age. The locality is classified as the Natural Monument.
